New Mexico RV Destinations

We have not spent as much time traveling in our RV in New Mexico as other areas in the western U.S.  But we still have lots of traveling and sightseeing to do and more of RVing in New Mexico is definitely on our list!  We have listed the areas the National Park Service is responsible for in New Mexico.

Cities and towns listed with brackets [ ] were our base camps where we stayed and left our motorhome to visit the local attractions using our tow vehicle.  We have also included, if applicable, our recommended RV parks and any restaurants we particularly liked in these areas.   As RV parks, attractions and restaurants can change owners and/or management, we cannot guarantee the same level of food/service/accommodations as we experienced so please check current reviews and recommendations.

Check love-to-rv.com often as we will be adding other destinations as I research back into my journals from previous trips and as we continue to travel and find new and interesting places to go.

Aztec Ruins National Monument, Aztec, NM [Towaoc CO] –   Large ruins that once was a center of ancestral Pueblo society.

White Sand National Monument, Alamogordo, NM –   One of our photos at the top of the page was a lunch stop at the White Sand National Monument (I bet you thought we were in snow!)  The kids go down the dunes like snow.  It was a real treat to have lunch in the RV and open the blinds to watch the kids (and adults if the truth be known) playing on the dunes.

Yellowstone National Park is my favorite national park so far. There is such a variety of things to see at Yellowstone including wildlife and geological wonders. To fully appreciate the park, you will probably want to spend more than one day as the park is very large. Be sure to see Old Faithful geyser.
